| The
Peak District The varying
geology of the Peak District has produced some fascinating scenery both
high on the Northern gritstone Dark Peak, but also down in the lower
levels of the limestone White Peak. Here you will find the gleaming
white cliffs, the entrances to mysterious cave systems, deep wooded
gorges, gently flowing rivers and high pastures crossed by numerous dry
stone walls.
The area is full of cute little
villages built of local stone, grand country manor houses, some of the
best tea and cake shops in the country, and of course, classic old
English pubs.
After a hard day in the mountains
there is nothing better than a relaxing stroll, down the river bank, and
on to the pub - to discuss the previous days achievements, and plan the
next adventure.
